【🌿 TCS Friday Experiential Learning: A Visit to the Taiwan Hakka Tea Culture Museum】

TCS middle school students took part in an immersive cultural and historical journey at the Hakka Tea Culture Museum in Longtan, Taoyuan! They explored the tea-making process and discovered how Taiwan's tea industry has historically influenced the country's economic and social development. Beyond gaining new knowledge, the students also got hands-on experience with tea rolling, appreciating the precision and artistry involved in tea production.

🍂 Bringing Tea Culture into the Chinese Classroom 🍂

G7: Through the story The Golden Box, students explore how the meaning of objects can shift—from being a "companion in loneliness" to something that "evokes bittersweet emotions." They learn to understand the symbolic meaning of objects, express their own personal stories, and design a one-of-a-kind exhibition space.

G8: By studying Autumn in the Countryside and Ode to the Lotus, students reflect on how "nature can resemble a drama," much like the rise and fall of Taiwan's tea industry. They explore the symbolism of flowers and teas, discovering deeper meanings—from the lotus that "grows unstained from the mud" to tea that "calms the mind"—gaining a richer understanding of the messages in poetry.

G9: Through the poem The Best Time in Life: "Spring has flowers, autumn has the moon, summer brings cool breezes, and winter, its snow. When no worries cloud your mind, every season becomes the best time in life." Students gain an appreciation for the changing seasons and the beauty of poetry, while also drawing deeper life lessons from these reflections.
