【🌟 TCS International Women's Week Celebration – Accelerate Action!】

Last Friday, our Experiential Learning Friday was dedicated to celebrating International Women’s Week (IWW) with a day full of inspiration, learning, and action!

This year’s theme, "Accelerate Action" reminds us of the importance of taking concrete steps toward gender equality. Through insightful discussions and hands-on activities, our students explored the achievements of remarkable women and how we can all contribute to a more inclusive world.

🔹 Morning Session – Empowerment Speech & Gender Awareness

We kicked off the day with an engaging speech by guest speaker Ms. Jingyu Zhang from the Modern Women’s Foundation. Students learned about gender equality, breaking stereotypes, and preventing relationship violence, reinforcing the importance of respect and inclusivity in our community.

🔹 Afternoon Session – Honouring Women Trailblazers

Students were introduced to five inspirational women from around the world, especially  two from Canada:

  • Harriet Tubman – A courageous leader of the Underground Railroad, helping enslaved people escape to freedom.

  • Elsie MacGill – The world’s first female aircraft designer, paving the way for women in engineering.

 🔹 DIY for a Cause – Supporting Women’s Week

To put learning into action, students crafted handmade bow decorations, which they could either give to a woman who inspires them or donate to support the Garden of Hope Foundation.
