【Experiential Learning Friday-TCS High School Social Science Class: Understanding the Value of Freedom】

TCS high school students attended the National Human Rights Museum for their experiential learning Friday. They listened to human rights activist Fred Chin share his experiences of imprisonment. Through his sharing, students entered the era of the White Terror, understanding the lost history and the value of freedom. In the afternoon, students visited the special exhibition "Lost Freedom - Canada's War Measures Act," learning that even democratic Canada has had unjust practices. Students learned about instances where people were randomly arrested while walking on the streets, without any reason, and sent to detention camps for forced labour. Their peaceful lives were disrupted as their land was arbitrarily confiscated without any compensation.

These practical explorations allowed the students to connect with historical events on a deeper level, beyond what textbooks alone can offer!
