【TCS Experiential Learning Friday|Student-Centred Leadership and Teamwork Workshop】

During last week’s TCS Experiential Learning Friday, we witnessed an exciting role reversal—G11 student Iris Chiang and G10 student Sophie Chiang stepped into leadership roles—designing and facilitating the entire session for our G7 students. Teachers stepped back into supporting roles, creating space for students to step up as leaders and embrace the spirit of leadership and service learning.

🌟 This event was a fantastic example of project-based service learning. Through hands-on planning and cross-grade collaboration, students engaged in a series of challenges that emphasized communication, critical thinking, and creative problem-solving:

🍬 Marshmallow Tower Challenge – Teams used spaghetti, tape, and marshmallows to build the tallest tower possible, honing teamwork and collaborative skills.

🏝️ Desert Island Survival – Groups discussed and agreed on the top 10 essential items for survival, practicing effective communication and consensus-building.

🌀 Flip the Mat – Without stepping off, teams had to flip an entire mat while standing on it—testing their coordination, strategy, and group synergy.

👣 Follow My Footsteps – Students mimicked the leader’s movements to complete challenges, highlighting the importance of observation and the influence of leadership.

👏 A big round of applause to Iris and Sophie for their thoughtful planning, and hats off to our G7 students for their enthusiastic participation and teamwork!
